Sweigh Spilkin is a poet, teacher, arts educator, and wilderness guide who has been inspiring youth and adults for the last eight years. Sweigh received her M.F.A. in Writing and Poetics from Naropa University. She has taught with California Poets in the Schools, Naropa University, New Vista High School, and the Boulder Public Library. Sweigh created and facilitates Write of Passage, an intergenerational writing workshop for teenage girls and elder women. Her work has been published in literary journals including Poetry New York, Bombay Gin, and Poetry Motel. Sweigh's teaching combines poetry, prose, synchronicity, visual arts, and nature based activities. She believes that poetry is a doorway into the imagination. Her workshops help youth foster critical thinking, express their authentic selves, and leap into the unknown.
