Mr. Watt is one of the top male fiber artists in the country. Mr. Watt has been in several fiber art shows with a variety of artists from all over the country which he finds very gratifying along with the fact that the public and art show judges thoroughly enjoy his work. Mr. Watt has enjoyed successes - awards, many art shows, and a Visual Arts Fellowship from Colorado in 1998. His work is displayed in the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and the corporate collections of Sprint, Kaiser Permanente, and US West.
Mr. Watt received a B.A. from Colorado College and a B.F.A. from Colorado State University. It was at C.S.U. that he stumbled into a Fibers class taught by Tom Lundberg. His enthusiasm and skill as a teacher brought Mr. Watt into the world of fiber art. Before embroidery, he painted and drew landscapes in pen, ink and watercolor. Mr. Watt now thinks of his work as drawing and painting with thread. He still enjoys landscapes and a great deal of his work is oriented in that direction.
