Sculpture/Clay and Mixed Media
“Working in clay and mixed media allows me to give form to those things I find in my imagination, to materialize the ways in which I see the world. I work primarily with the stylized figure, expressing everyday events, inspired by my role as mother, woman, artist, wife, and simply a human being on this fast paced planet. Art is my way to discuss, advise, examine, and always to keep a sense of humor about life in general. My work is hand built low fire clay, using mostly slab and pinch construction. Much attention is given to the surface texture, carving, scratching, stamping... creating a visual dialog. I complete my work using cold finishes of acrylics, inks, color pencils, and whatever else it takes to communicate my intended vision.”
Marie exhibits her work both nationally and internationally, and has been published in Ceramics Monthly Magazine, Clay Times Magazine, Sculptural Pursuit Magazine, as well as Making Ceramic Sculpture, the Big Book of Ceramic Design, and 500 Teapots by Lark Books.
