![]() Kim Olson
Kim Olson is the Choreographer, Artistic Director, and founder (2001) of Sweet Edge, a contemporary dance company of six, based in Boulder. Olson moved to Colorado from NYC, where she performed and taught internationally with the Stephen Petronio Company, Randy Warshaw Dance Company, and Donna Uchizono. Her own work has now been presented in independent venues and international festivals throughout the US, as well as Canada, Mexico, Japan, Scotland, Trinidad, Guatemala and Germany. Olson has been awarded National Choreographic Fellowships (Sweet Edge is currently supported by grants from Boulder County Arts Alliance and Scientific and Cultural Facilities District). Olson has received nominations from the Monaco Dance Forum Nijinsky Awards for Best “Emerging Choreography”, “Choreographer” and “Female Dancer”. Her work has been commissioned in the US and Germany and she has been an invited instructor numerous venues in the US as well as Guatemala, France, Germany, Spain, and Scotland. She holds a BFA from the Ohio State University, is a member of the multi-disciplinary Boulder based Mariposa Collective. Olson has been on the Artist Roster for Young Audiences for several years, and has had the opportunity to present work and lead both young and old through the magical and often profound journey of movement and dance. Her artistic vision recognizes dance as a powerful tool, which can lead to greater self-realization, empowerment, social tolerance, and compassion.
