Jeannette Trujillo-Lucero is the Founder and Artistic Director of Fiesta Colorado Inc. and the Ballet Folklorico de Colorado. Jeannette owned and directed the Danzantes Dance Studio for over 25 years. Her collaborations include working with the Colorado Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, International Mariachi Festival, and the Fiestas de Santa Fe, among many others. She has been the choreographer for the Colorado Children s Chorale, Arvada Center, Denver Public High Schools and Up with the People. Jeanette has received special recognition from the CCA, SCFD, Hispanic Cultures of the Southwest, Rocky Mountain News and was the honored recipient of the Denver Governor s Award and the 1997 Mayors Award for Excellence. Jeannette has done numerous educational outreach programs, residencies and summer intensive workshops with the Colorado Ballet, David Taylor Dance, Colorado Folklife Festival, Colorado Showcase, CCA, Community Resources and the DPS Educational Television program.
In her residencies, students learn to create, communicate and problem solve through dance and choreography. Jeannette s work focuses on the role of dance in history, as it relates to different cultures as well as taking a hands-on, eyes-on approach.
