Dana Elkun
Poetry

Dana Elkun is a poet, dancer, and arts educator who has been teaching creative writing for eight years. Dana has developed curricula on a variety of topics, including writing from color and collage, poetry for performance, creativity and math, writing the invisible, and writing about race and ethnicity. She also enjoys developing new lessons to complement curriculum in any subject area. Having worked with middle and high school students, youth in juvenile detention, and homeless youth, Dana knows how to guide her students toward empowerment and epiphany. She has taught with Seattle Writers in the Schools, Pongo Poetry Project, University of Colorado, University of Arizona Poetry Center, and Richard Hugo House. Dana’s poems have been published widely in literary journals, including Beloit Poetry Journal, MARGIE, Pontoon, and Puerto del Sol. She earned her M.F.A. from the University of Washington and was recently nominated for Best New American Poets.
