 A Visit From the Real D.W.
Experience a visit from the real D.W. Kim Brown, is the sister of Arthur creator , Marc Brown and the inspiration for his character, D.W. She has been visitng schools and libraries across the country for 9 years.Her captivating presentation will inspire students to read, write and draw.
Kim shares childhood memories and explains how most of the characters are based on real people, from their family or childhood.She will have a question and answer session.Her slide show consists of family photos,Arthur in the Macy's Day parade,where Marc lives and works,how he writes a story and ends with Kim reading a D.W. book.Next she will show how Marc illustrates a book using original sketches from real books.Kim will lead the children in drawing Arthur using a simple 8 step formula.As the students exit the presentation they will all receive a Marc Brown autographed stamp of their favorite character, on their drawing or a book they have brought from home for a keepsake.
