Matilda & the Dreamtime

Acclaimed Aussie performing artist delights in sharing the culture of his homeland.  Paul presents an exciting blend of stories, songs, dance, poetry and drama, from both Aboriginal and European Australia, featuring the music of the didjeridoo. Paul is mentored by Aboriginal custodian, Yidumduma Bill Harney whom Paul visits on sabbatical each year. This show draws parallels in American culture and meets many core curricular standards. Adaptable to any age.

Land of the Lightning Brothers

A slide presentation of 8,000-year old Aboriginal rock paintings from Australia's Northern Territory with permission of custodian Yidumduma Bill Harney, featuring the didjeridoo and creation or Dreamtime stories. This show offers a unique look at the world's oldest unbroken culture, the Aboriginal concept of the Dreamtime, the importance of relationships, and the impact of European settlement. This show also draws parallels in American culture and meets many core curricular standards. This program is adaptable to most age levels.

NOTE: The following workshops are available to be booked when a performance is also scheduled.

Workshop: Didjeridoo - Making didjeridoos using PVC, playing, painting, and breathing techniques and the culture. 1-3 hrs. Adaptable. Grade Levels: 3-12

Workshop: Story Creation - Creating a group "myth" inspired by Aboriginal culture and ways of education incorporating science. Grade Levels: K-12

Workshop: Dance - Traditional Aussie European folk dancing. Grade Levels: K-6

Workshop: Boomerang - Using cardboard, decorating, science, culture, and demonstration. Grade Levels: 2-12

Cricket- Aussie Games - Working with the PE teacher and showing the origins of baseball. Grade Levels: 3-12

DEAL! Fee: $135 when booked with a performance

ATTENTION TEACHERS!

Teacher In-service - Applying Aboriginal education in the classroom to create community and meet your curriculum standards. A one day residency is suggested that includes a school performance and workshop along with a teacher in-service, however this in-service is negotiable and flexible to meet your individual staff needs.
