Tell us about yourself

I am a professional artist with painting, sculpture, photography, graphic arts and drawing. My main focus though, is teaching children and young adults art through Escuela de Guadalupe, Museo de las Americas, CHAC, ArtReach, Colorado Folk Arts and many others, except for Young Audiences.

Tell us how you feel about arts education

I agree that art education is extremely important for youth. When the right side of the brain is not given any exercise when young, the individual loses half their God given ablilities in time. I am delighted by the enthusiasm of a kindergarten child drawing a simple picture. Very young children can learn to express themselves artistically easily. It is much harder to teach an adult who has been dwelling in the left hemisphere of their brain for most of their life.
