Artist in Residence
Stuart Alden is the owner of Idaho Stew, a small multidisciplinary graphic design studio. This past year his studio has worked on projects ranging from exhibit and interior design for The Cable Center, branding the PeaceJam Foundation's 10th Anniversary Conference, designing the print collateral for Summer Scholars, and delivering the interactive design for Concept Restaurants. In his professional work, Stu has provided photography for design agencies, Nobel Peace Laureates and HealthONE, as well as a video project in Guatemala for a documentary. In his spare time, he has been creating works in silkscreening, which inspired him to open Ink Lounge, a printmaking gallery in Belmar. Stuart has been a resident artist at Monash University in Australia, where he gave lectures and created an exhibit. He has exhibited posters in Cuba and twice been an observer for the USA at the International Council of Graphic Design Association Congress. He is a past president of AIGA Colorado, past vice-president of the AIGA Center for Cross-Cultural Design, named one of 50 US Designers to Watch in 2002, and won Best Manners at Wellington Junior High about 28 years ago. He also grew up teaching swimming to youth and spent a few of his many years in college studying elementary education
