A Magical Carpet Ride for Little Dancers
Through this colorful, lighthearted performance, students travel the Middle East as they experience a variety of traditional dances and discover the stories behind the Zeffa, Zar, Kashlimar, Greek Line Dance, and Raks Sharki Using props like balancing swords, spoons and zills, Rooshana weaves cultural lessons into dances, and invites children to perform with her and ask questions. The costuming is eye-catching and typical of Belly Dance; however, a sponsoring organization may request that the dancer wear a one piece folk costume.
Single Performance: $150

Hula and Tahitian Dance
Children will hear the stories and dance with their hands, as Rooshana performs Hula and Tahitian dances. Boys may try the frigate bird hopping step, as they learn a warrior dance. Girls don sarongs and dance the Hukulau, a song about fishing. All students will have a chance to participate, as Rooshana performs native dances of Hawai’i and Tahiti that honor nature, ancestors and loved ones.

Single Workshop Experience

Middle Eastern Dance- A Magic Carpet Ride for Dancers
How does she make her belly move like that? Watch as professional Belly Dancer, Rooshana, performs a variety of dances from the Middle Eastern region such as, Zar, Zeffa, Beladi, or Kashimar. The students can learn snake arms, the camel walk and other secrets from this array of ancient dance forms. This workshop uses age-appropriate costumes and is great for all ages.

Hula and Tahitian Dance
Dressed in traditional floral paraeu, Rooshana performs hula dances, and then dons a tall raffia “helmet” and grass skirt for a traditional Tahitian Dance. The boys will learn the fierce warrior dance and all the students will dance the Hukulau and Pearly Shells.
