Artist in Residence
She turned her passion for working with children and young adults into a career, as she began to teach writing workshops and storytelling seminars. Today Ms. Fajardo is the co-author of four multi-cultural children’s books; Holy Mole Guacamole and Other Tummy Tales; Pinch A Lotta Enchiladas; Chili Today, Hot Tamale; and Ole! Posole! Fajardo is also featured in the Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul 2005 book. She teaches storytelling, poetry, creative writing fiction and non-fiction workshops. As the project director for the Colorado Folk Arts Council, Fajardo programs a series of free cultural events in Arapahoe County and Jefferson County in Colorado. These award-winning programs are attended by thousands annually and considered a highlight of cultural diversity celebrations statewide. Her passion is to help young writers draw on their family and community ties to create rich and vibrant worlds. She believes that writing is a craft that anyone can learn, and her goal is to open the creative process for those that dare to try.

Holy Mole Guacamole and other Tummy Tales
Through humor and interactive storytelling, author Renee Fajarado demonstrates how food, family and community go hand in hand. Every culture in every corner of the world celebrates special occasions with special foods. This show highlights stories from the Rocky Mountain Storytellers Conference Tummy Tales Series. Family traditions and the importance of preserving the universal love of home cooking are honored in a most delectable manner. Special guest co-author Carl Ruby is available upon request.

Por Que Tales
From Africa to China to the American Southwest, people ask why? Why do tortillas have spots? Why do birds sing at daybreak? Why should you always listen to your elders? Why is why a good question? Hear and experience the answers to all sorts of questions about why and what and how come in this fun-filled showcase of Por Que Tales! A special emphasis is placed upon tales from the Corazon de Colorado (the heart of Colorado).

Chicano Cuentos
Explore the myths and story behind celebrated Hispanic holidays, such as La Llorona, Dia de Los Muertes, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Los Posados, Primavera, and Cinco de Mayo. This show is seasonal and available by special request only.

Single Workshop Experience
Writing Workshop!
Renee Fajarado explores the creative process of writing through example and hands-on experience. Unlock the poet and storyteller within. Customized workshops are available around the following themes: The Heroes’ Journey, Who Am I, Mi Familia, Short Stories of the Soul, Earth Songs, and Any Day on a Monday. A Flor Y Canto poetry slam event is available for multiple day workshops and can include an additional artist for the day of the event.
