Artist in Residence

Katherine Dines is a songwriter, recording and teaching artist, a keynote presenter, and the creator of the Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta series of children’s recordings. She tours nationally and throughout the world, and her performances are a unique combination of movement, sign language, storytelling, humor, multicultural instruments, zany props and theatre that engage and captivate audiences of
all ages. She also writes songs and licenses others from her catalog to many clients, including United Airlines, WalMart, Stenhouse Publishing, amongst others. Currently, she is developing Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta music into a full line of educational product, including skill-building songs for babies and toddlers, children's books and educational activity guides. Katherine¹s songs and recordings have been Grammy-nominated and won numerous awards from such organizations as: National Parenting Publications, Parents’ Choice, Parents’ Guide, Children’s Music Web, Dr. Toy, and the Wolf Trap Institute. Since her first artist-in-residence program with AL Arts Council in 1995, she has written more than 300 songs with students of all ages.

Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta Boo!
Movement, sign language, sing-alongs, drama, call and response, zipper songs and zany props all combine in a 45-60 minute program that celebrates children through music and Katherine Dines’ award winning songs.

Dancing and laughter are encouraged as Katherine teaches children sayable singable phrases from around the world. This interactive musical program features movement, some unusual instruments, a songwriting component and lot of audience participation.

Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta GNU ~ Weird, Wild and Wacky Words
Explore the English language with this interactive, musical program about words and language. Pronouns, adjectives, vowels, clichés, homonyms and more. Songwriting as a focus can be incorporated in this program.
