Visual artist Heather Doyle-Maier provides students with highly engaging projects that improve skills, increase comprehension, and build confidence.

In her bookmaking workshops, Heather guides students in the construction of individual artist books that are designed to strengthen specific skills or remediate deficits. Heather’s book designs work to make visible the abstractions that are necessary for success in writing and math, turning grammatical structures into tangible pieces, mathematical concepts into maneuver-able progressions, and writing processes into touchable sequences – all accessible in a “book” format. By participating in one of Heather’s book projects, students pair hand work with brain work to create their own learning tools.

In her studio work, Heather uses installation and performance, fibers and text to explore that which is hidden, that which is ignored, that which is left out or unsaid. Informed by feminist art and theory, Heather’s acclaimed work has been exhibited locally, regionally and nationally. Heather holds a BFA from Metro State College of Denver in Visual Art and BA from Loretto Heights College/Regis College in Theatre Education, and she brings her experience in writing, theatre, storytelling, music, accounting and parenting all to bear in her artwork and her teaching. Heather is a member of Edge Gallery in Denver.
