Elephant
This delightful one-woman play weaves together the extraordinary world of elephants with the true childhood adventures of a young girl. With humor, honesty and insight, Ms. DePree brings to life unforgettable characters, remarkable pachyderms and surprising events. You will discover why elephants dance, how love can make us run through glass, when it’s safe to swim with sharks and ultimately how story and community shape the people we become. “Elephant” has been performed throughout Colorado and was featured at the International Children’s Festivals of Vancouver and Calgary, Canada.

The Emperor’s New Clothes and Other Ugly Ducks
This play celebrates Hans Christian Andersen’s 200th Birthday in a hilarious adaptation of his most popular fairytales. Out of a flying trunk comes Captain Stella, our outrageous literary aviator, who with puppetry, music, and physical comedy, paints these simple fables with fresh, brilliant colors befitting a giant birthday party!

Single Workshop Experience
Stories Out Of Nothing
This 50-minute workshop uses theatre and improvisation games and exercises, while students explore developing the “who”, “what”, “where”, “when” and “why” of a story.

Artist in Residence
Birgitta DePree is a professional actor and theatre educator whose work includes performing, writing, directing and teaching. She received her M.F.A. from the National Theatre Conservatory and has performed in theaters throughout the United States. She is a founding director and producer of the Manitou Art Theater. She works extensively as an artist-in-residence throughout Colorado.
